Thamud denied the warning 23 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. 24 Hath the admonition been laid upon him from amongst us! Aye! he is a liar insolent. 25 They shall know tomorrow whichsoever is a liar insolent. 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 30 Lo! We sent upon them one Shout, and they became as the dry twigs (rejected by) the builder of a cattle-fold. 31 Indeed, We have made the Quran easy to learn lessons from. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 32 Lot's people also gave the lie to the warnings, 33 Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night, 34 a blessing from Us; even so We recompense him who is thankful. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 Even his guests they had solicited of him; so We obliterated their eyes, saying, 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 So taste My chastisement and My warning. 39 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 40
