The notables among his people who had refused to believe and who denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and those whom We had endowed with ease and comfort in this life, cried out: "This is no other than a mortal like yourselves who eats what you eat and drinks what you drink. 33 If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, you will certainly be losers. 34 “Does he promise you that when you die and turn into dust and bones, you will be raised again?” 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 “There is nothing except our life of this world, we die and we live, and we are not to be raised.” 37 He is naught but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him. 38 He said: my Lord! vindicate for they belie me. 39 [Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful." 40 And the Cry seized them in justice and We made them withered. So begone with the harmdoing nation. 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 Every nation has an appointed life span. 43 We sent Our messengers one after the other but whenever a Messenger would come to a nation, its people would call him a liar and We would destroy one nation after the other, thus, only their stories were left behind them. God keeps the unbelievers far away from His Mercy. 44 AND THEN We sent forth Moses and his brother Aaron with Our messages and a manifest authority [from Us] 45 unto Pharaoh and his great ones; but these behaved with arrogance, for they were people wont to glorify [only] themselves. 46 And they said: Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves, and whose folk are servile unto us? 47 Then they accused them of lies, and joined the company of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them a refuge on a hillside where there was a hollow and a spring. 50
