Verily Jonah is one of the apostles. 139 when he ran away to the laden ship 140 Then he joined the lots, and was of the condemned. 141 Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy. 142 Had he not been one of those who struggled hard, 143 he would certainly have remained in its belly till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ but We caused him to be cast forth on a desert shore, sick [at heart] as he was, 145 We made a plant of gourd grow up for him. 146 And We sent him towards a hundred thousand people, in fact more. 147 and they believed, and We gave them enjoyment for awhile. 148 So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say, 151 Allah has begotten; and most surely they are liars. 152 “Has he chosen daughters instead of sons?” 153 Woe to you! How terrible is your Judgment. 154 Will you not then remember? 155 Do you have clear authority? 156 Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful. 157 And they have made between Him and the jinn a kinship whereas the jinn assuredly know that they are to be brought up 158 Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him. 159 all of them except the chosen servants of Allah. 160 So neither you nor those you worship 161 You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him 162 Save him Who is to roast in the Flaming Fire. 163 And the angels say, “Each one of us has an appointed known position.” 164 And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer]. 165 And we are most surely they who declare the glory (of Allah). 166 And indeed they used to say: 167 “If we had some advice from the earlier generations,” – 168 We would have been the chosen servants of Allah." 169 They therefore denied it, so they will soon come to know. 170 We have already given Our promise to Our Messengers 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 So, (O Prophet), leave them alone for a while, 174 and see, and soon they too shall see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! 177 So turn (away) from them for a while, 178 And watch and they shall see (the torment)! 179 Glory be to thy Lord, the Lord of Glory, above that they describe! 180 Peace be upon the Messengers 181 It is only God, the Lord of the Universe, who deserves all praise. 182
