He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and fearfully, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
