The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
