۞ We bestowed aforetime on Abraham his rectitude of conduct, and well were We acquainted with him. 51 When he said unto his father and his folk: What are these images unto which ye pay devotion? 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." 54 They said: 'Is it the truth you have brought us, or are you one of those that play' 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 And, by Allah! I will certainly do something against your idols after you go away, turning back. 57 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers." 59 They said: "We heard a young man talking (against) them who is called Ibrahim (Abraham)." 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 They said: Is it thou who hast done this to our gods, O Abraham? 62 He said, 'No; it was this great one of them that did it. Question them; if they are able to speak!' 63 They then turned to themselves, and said: verily ye it is who are the wrong-doers. 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 (So Abraham) said: "Then why do you worship something apart from God that cannot profit you or do you harm? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They said: Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do (anything). 68 We said: "O fire, become coolness and safety for Abraham." 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 And We rescued him and Lut towards the land which We have blessed for the entire world. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Jacob, and We made righteous men of every one (of them). 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient. 74 whereas him We admitted unto Our grace: for, behold, he was among the righteous. 75
