The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and spreading shade 30 Gushing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 on raised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
