The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
