He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him you give attention. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 then the way eased for him, 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 and from his mother and father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
