And certainly We delivered the children of Israel from the abasing chastisement, 30 From Fir'aun (Pharaoh); Verily! He was arrogant and was of the Musrifun (those who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins). 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge, above all beings, 32 And We vouchsafed unto them signs wherein was a manifest favour. 33 As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth: 34 "There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected. 35 So then, bring forth our forefathers [as witnesses,] if what you claim is true!" 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals. 37 It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We created them not save with a purpose but most of them know not. 39 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is the appointed time for them all - 40 The day when friend will help no friend in the least, nor will they be helped, 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
