The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
