Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 In an elevated garden, 22 its fruits are near. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
