Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 In which are high thrones. 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
