The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
Almighty Allah's Truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
