The Ad gave the lie to the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know. 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 gardens, and springs. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
