The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
