AND CALL to mind, through this divine writ, Abraham. Behold, he was a man of truth, [already] a prophet 41 Remember, when he said to his father: "O my father, why do you worship that which can neither hear nor see nor even profit you the least? 42 O my father! Lo! there hath come unto me of knowledge that which came not unto thee. So follow me, and I will lead thee on a right path. 43 Father, do not worship satan; he has disobeyed the Beneficent God. 44 O my father! Lo! I fear lest a punishment from the Beneficent overtake thee so that thou become a comrade of the devil. 45 He said, “What! You turn away from my Gods, O Ibrahim? If you do not desist, I will certainly stone you, and keep no relation with me for a long while.” 46 He answered: "Peace be on you. I will seek forgiveness of my Lord for you. He has been gracious to me. 47 Now I will go away from you and that you call upon, other than Allah. I will call on my Lord. Perhaps I shall not be unblessed in calling my Lord' 48 And after he had withdrawn from them and from all that they were worshipping instead of God, We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob, and made each of them a prophet; 49 and We gave them of Our Mercy and We appointed to them a truthful, highly sincere tongue, 50
