1/2 Hizb 33

۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?" 52 They said: we found our fathers the worshippers thereof. 53 He said: Certainly you have been, (both) you and your fathers, in manifest error. 54 They said: "Are you expressing your true ideas before us or are you jesting?" 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 And, by God, I shall assuredly outwit your idols, after you have gone away turning your backs.' 57 He broke them all into pieces, except for the biggest one of them, so that they might return to it [for enquiry]. 58 (When the people came to the temple and saw the broken idols) they asked each other, "Who has done this to our gods? He certainly is an unjust person". 59 They said: "We heard a young man talking (against) them who is called Ibrahim (Abraham)." 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 They then turned to themselves, and said: verily ye it is who are the wrong-doers. 64 With their heads cast down they said, "Abraham, you know that idols do not speak. How then can you ask such a question?" 65 He said: What! do you then serve besides Allah what brings you not any benefit at all, nor does it harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon that which ye worship beside Allah! Will ye not then reflect? 67 They said, 'Burn him, and help your gods, if you would do aught.' 68 We said, “O fire, become cool and peaceful upon Ibrahim.” 69 And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lut towards the land which We have blessed for the entire world. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac, and Jacob as an additional gift, and made them righteous. 72 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). 73 And (remember) Lout (Lot), We gave him Hukman (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khaba'ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient, to Allah). 74 And We brought him in unto Our mercy. Lo! he was of the righteous. 75
