Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 Then those (ships) that glide easily, 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 your ideas are confused. 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 May the conjecturers perish, 10 who are heedless in the immersion. 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs, 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness, 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
