The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great event, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
