The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 Whither then will you go? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
