The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
