The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. THESE ARE MESSAGES of revelation - of a discourse clear in itself and clearly showing the truth. 1 Often will those who disbelieve wish that they had been Muslims. 2 Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know. 3 And every dwelling that We destroyed, had a known decree for it. 4 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 5 (The unbelievers have said), "You to whom the Quran has been revealed are insane. 6 Why bringest thou not angels unto us, if thou art of the truthful? 7 [Yet] We never send down angels otherwise than in accordance with the [demands of] truth; and [were the angels to appear now,] lo! they [who reject this divine writ] would have no further respite! 8 It is We who have sent down the Reminder and We will, most surely, safeguard it. 9 Indeed, We sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad SAW) amongst the sects (communities) of old. 10 And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him. 11 Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals. 12 They believe not therein, and already the example of the ancients hath gone forth. 13 If We opened a gate in the heaven and they kept ascending through it, 14 still they would say: 'Our eyes were dazzled; truly, we must have been a bewitched people' 15
