And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 Is it not a Sign to them - (to wit, the Makkans) - that the learned men of the Children of Israel know that? 197 If We had sent it down on a barbarian 198 And he had read it unto them, even then they would not have been believers therein. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe in it to the extent that they see the painful punishment. 201 So that it will come upon them suddenly, when they perceive not. 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 204 But hast thou ever considered [this]: If We do allow them to enjoy [this life] for some years, 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! 207 Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners - 208 As a reminder; and never have We been unjust. 209 The devils did not bring it down. 210 Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it). 211 Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. 212 Therefore do not worship another deity along with Allah, for you will be punished. 213 Warn your tribe and your near kinsmen. 214 Lower thy wing to those who follow thee, being believers; 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 Put thy trust in the All-mighty, the All-compassionate 217 Who sees you when you stand up. 218 And your movement among those who prostrate. 219 Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 [And] shall I tell you upon whom it is that those evil spirits descend? 221 They come down on every guilty impostor. 222 who readily lend ear [to every falsehood,] and most of whom lie to others as well. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. 227
