The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and shade extended, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruit abounding, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
