The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
