He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And he fears, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
