The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
