The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). 4 But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
