He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and purified. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 olives, dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
