Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
