Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 This is how We have made the habit of denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they suffer the painful torment. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are unaware, 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 Just think: If We let them enjoy the good things of life for a few years more, 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 And never did We destroy a township which did not have Heralds of warning, - 208 By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust. 209 The satans did not bring down this (Clear Book), 210 neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it, 211 Verily, they have been removed far from hearing it. 212 Hence, [O man,] do not invoke any other deity side by side with God, lest thou find thyself among those who are made to suffer [on Judgment Day]. 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 So if they do not obey you, then say, "Indeed I am unconcerned with what you do." 216 And rely upon the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 and sees your movements among those who prostrate themselves: 219 He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They descend upon every sinful liar. 222 They listen, but most of them are liars. 223 And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them: 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. 227
