Call to mind when Abraham said to his father and his people, "I disown utterly that which you worship. 26 Save Him Who created me, for surely He will guide me. 27 This is the legacy he left to his descendants so that they may turn (to God). 28 Nay, but I let these and their fathers enjoy life (only) till there should come unto them the Truth and a messenger making plain. 29 And when there came to them the truth they said: This is magic, and surely we are disbelievers in it. 30 And they said, "Why was this Qur'an not sent down upon a great man from [one of] the two cities?" 31 Are they the distributors of your Lord’s mercy? We have distributed among them their comforts in the life of this world, and gave high status to some over others so that they mock at each other; and the mercy of your Lord is better than all what they hoard. 32 If it were not that all mankind might have become one community [of disbelievers], We could have given all those who deny the Lord of Mercy, houses with roofs of silver, silver staircases to ascend, 33 doors for their houses, couches on which to recline, 34 And also adornments of gold. But all this were nothing but conveniences of the present life: The Hereafter, in the sight of thy Lord is for the Righteous. 35
