The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And your garments purify! 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
