And (remember) when your Lord called Musa (Moses) (saying): "Go to the people who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing), 10 The people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh). Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?" 11 He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me; 12 and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me. 14 Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. 15 So go ye twain unto Fir'awn and say: verily we are the apostles of the Lord of the Worlds, 16 Then send with us the children of Israel. 17 He (Pharaoh) said (to Moses): 'Did We not bring you up when you were a child? And have you not spent years of your life amongst us? 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 Said Moosa, “I did that at a time when I was unaware of the consequences.” (In anger – See verse 28:15) 20 I fled from you because I feared you. But my Lord has given me judgment and made me one of the Messengers. 21 And this is the favour with which you taunt me -- that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" 22 The Pharaoh asked, "Who is the Lord of the Universe?" 23 Moses replied, "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you want to be certain". 24 (The Pharaoh) said to those around him: "Do you hear?" 25 He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients.' 26 Pharaoh said, "This messenger who has been sent to you is surely possessed!" 27 He said: Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them, if ye did but understand. 28 (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" 29 Said he: "Even if I should bring about before thee something that clearly shows the truth?" 30 (The Pharaoh) said: "Then bring it, if you speak the truth." 31 So he cast his staff, and behold, it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! 33
