And We certainly saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment - 30 from Pharaoh, who ranked high in sin, 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge, above all beings, 32 And sent them tokens to bring out the best in them. 33 Verily these! they say: 34 "There is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected. 35 “Therefore bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful!” 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those who were before them whom We destroyed? Indeed they were sinners. 37 We created not the heavens and earth, and all that between them is, in play; 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 The Day of Decision is the appointed time for all. 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
