The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 and taught to him 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 While he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 (Among the idols) have you considered allat and al'uzza, 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
