The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Hath made known the Qur'an. 2 He created the human being 3 [And] taught him eloquence. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 And the herbs and the trees do obeisance. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 Do not transgress the scales. 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 And created jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 23 And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains. 24 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 25
