The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they differ? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a fitting requital, 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
