Nay, by the moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 it is a warning to man, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 who will be in Paradise 40 concerning the sinners, 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
