The great ones among Pharaoh's people said: "Verily, this is indeed a sorcerer of great knowledge, 109 who seeks to drive you out from your land. What would you have us do?' 110 They said (unto Pharaoh): Put him off (a while) - him and his brother - and send into the cities summoners, 111 to bring thee every cunning sorcerer.' 112 And the wizards came to Pharaoh, saying: Surely there will be a reward for us if we are victors. 113 He said, 'Yes, indeed; and you shall be among the near-stationed.' 114 The magicians asked Moses, "Will you throw your staff first or shall we?" 115 He answered: "You throw [first]." And when they threw down [their staffs,] they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and struck them with awe, and produced mighty sorcery. 116 We inspired Moses to throw his staff, and suddenly it began to swallow-up all that the magicians had (falsely) invented. 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 The magicians who were defeated on the spot and were proved to be worthless, 119 But the sorcerers fell down prostrate in adoration. 120 Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron. 122 Pharaoh said: Ye believe in Him before I give you leave! Lo! this is the plot that ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive its people hence. But ye shall come to know! 123 I shall assuredly cut off alternately your hands and feet, then I shall crucify you all together.' 124 They answered: "Verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn 125 You would take revenge on us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Lord, pour patience upon us and let us die as submitters (Muslims)' 126
