Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 And created the jinn before him, from smokeless fire. 27 And recall what time thy Lord said unto the angels: verily I am about to create a man from ringing clay of loam moulded. 28 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit fall down unto him prostrate. 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together: 30 But Iblis did not; he refused to be with the prostrates. 31 The Lord inquired: "Iblis! What is the matter with you that you did not join those who prostrated?" 32 Said he, 'I would never bow myself before a mortal whom Thou hast created of a clay of mud moulded.' 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." 35 Iblis prayed, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Judgment". 36 Allah said: "For sure you are granted respite 37 till that Appointed Day." 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 He (Allah) said: 'This is for Me the Right Path 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
