۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 when he said to his father and his people, 'What are these statues unto which you are cleaving?' 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said: assuredly ye, ye and your fathers, have been in error manifest. 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 And by Allah I shall surely devise a plot against your idols after ye turned away backward. 57 Then he broke them all into pieces, sparing only the supreme one among them that they may possibly return to him. 58 They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers." 59 They said, 'We heard a young man making mention of them, and he was called Abraham.' 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify." 61 They said, 'So, art thou the man who did this unto our gods, Abraham?' 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 So they returned one to another saying, 'Surely, it is you who are the harmdoers' 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 He said: 'Would you then worship that, instead of Allah, which can neither help nor harm you? 66 Fie upon you and that you serve apart from God! Do you not understand?' 67 They said: Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do (anything). 68 We said: O fire! be thou cool and peace unto Ibrahim. 69 They wished to entrap him, but We made them greater losers. 70 We saved him and Lot, and brought them to the land which We had blessed for all the worlds. 71 We granted him Isaac and Jacob as a gift and helped both of them to become righteous people. 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Verily he was of the righteous. 75
