The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 No one can avert it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
