The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 He created man. 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance. 7 That ye should not trespass in respect of the balance. 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 and a variety of corn with both husk and grain. 12 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
