Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Human beings certainly do not want to pay much attention to the Quran. In fact, they love the worldly life 20 and neglect the Hereafter. 21 How many faces will be refulgent on that Day, 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 and it is said: “Is there any enchanter who can step forward and help (by his chanting)?” 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
