The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
