No, by the moon! 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning unto humankind 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
