The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously. 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
