The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right hand; 38
